In January, 1997, while killing time in a Barnes and Nobles, James Barrett stumbled upon a copy of the screenplay "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" by William Goldman. It was the first script he had ever seen. He carried it over to the Starbuckšs counter, got a coffee, sat down, and read the whole thing in less than two hours. He was hooked.
In February, 1997, James typed "FADE IN:" for the first time and the creative flood-gates opened. Fifteen feature-length screenplays later, James is now an award-winning screenwriter. His stories are being reviewed by Paramount, HBO, American Zoetrope, and dozens of independent production companies. In 1999, James signed a management contract with West Coast Publisher/Manager Eva Peel. Eva is currently negotiating with Rosemont Productions in Hollywood on an option agreement for one of James' scripts. A voracious reader, James has developed a terse, staccato, quick-read style fashioned after his idols: William Goldman, Shane Black, Kevin Williamson and Woody Allen. "I don't want to 'be a writer'. I donšt know what that means. I just want to tell stories with words on paper". Email: James Barrett
