In
1872, a black man versed in good Voodoo is dragged to the local cemetery
to be lynched by two brutal brothers. Two twelve-year-old black boys
follow and the brave one tries to stop the lynching without success.
The black man puts a hex on the brothers and all their kin before they
hang him.
Eerily,
fireflies and a supernatural force entered the dead black man's body
bringing him back to life. Blending justice and revenge, he kills the
two white men in horrendous fashion.
In the 1930's, the brave black boy now an old man,
warns the two twelve-year-old white boys to stay away from the cemetery
because it's the NIGHT OF THE FIREFLIES. Taking no heed, the boys enter
the cemetery to explore on their own.
While
the boys tempt fate, the local sheriff robs the town bank, murders the
bank manager, and arranges to have his hunchback brother secretly bury
the body in the cemetery. The sheriff and hunchback are kin to the brutal
brothers.
The boys witness the hunchback digging the grave
with the bank manager lying beside it. After a harrowing escape, they
report their findings to the sheriff unaware the hunchback and sheriff
are brothers. The sheriff intends to murder the boys and bury them with
the bank manager. But he isn't prepared for the horror of the NIGHT
OF THE FIREFLIES and the return of the black man his kin had lynched.
This low budget, Stand By Me type script is aimed
